I have been looking for a first owner-occupied property for some time now. This process has been less than enjoyable. I must say that most real estate professionals are not very professional, which is somewhat expected I suppose. If you’ve bought or sold a property you know exactly what I’m talking about. They are salespeople and as such they are really just looking to make the sale. I’m not saying that you should go out and try to buy/sell property without the assistance of a professional, but in this cut-throat market you need to be mindful of who you select to assist you in the process. You also need to be willing to do some of the research yourself. There are MLS sites available to the public for most cities to help you narrow in on what interests you. It may take some work to find out what you are really looking for, but the important thing is to make sure you communicate this to your representatives. Also, the prices are still pretty out of control.
Oh and if you’re planning to sell in this market, don’t.
